Accessibility
Built to be seen — and never dumbed down
Accessible puzzles are too often the cheap ones. Sudokufy is the opposite: a genuinely premium Sudoku, with an advanced puzzle engine and a hint system that teaches — made readable and playable for people with low vision, and free for everyone.
What makes it accessible
Every feature below is built in and ready — most live under Options in the app menu.
-
Legible type
The numbers and text are set in Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a typeface from the Braille Institute designed to make characters easier to tell apart — so a 6 never reads as an 8, and a 1 never reads as a 7.
-
High contrast
A dedicated High Contrast mode boosts contrast and separates colours for maximum legibility. It also follows your system's "increase contrast" setting automatically.
-
Large print
Digit Size enlarges the puzzle numbers through Standard, Large, and Extra-Large. Pinch-to-zoom stays enabled everywhere, too.
-
Light & dark
Switch Appearance to the theme that's easiest on your eyes, in any lighting.
-
Screen readers
Controls are properly labelled, the board uses clear roles, and moves and hints are announced through live regions — so play makes sense without seeing the screen.
-
Full keyboard
Play entirely from the keyboard: arrow keys move around the grid, 1–9 place a number, Delete erases, and shortcuts cover notes (N), hints (H), and undo (Ctrl + Z).
-
Reduced motion
If your system asks for reduced motion, Sudokufy honours it and quiets its animations.
-
Yours, offline
Works fully offline once loaded, with no ads, no login, and no tracking. Nothing between you and the puzzle.
Our aim
We build toward the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines as our standard, and treat accessibility as core to the product rather than an afterthought. We won't claim to be perfect — but we do commit to taking real reports seriously and fixing what we can.
Help us do better
If something is hard to read, hard to reach, or hard to hear — or you have an idea that would help — please tell us. Feedback from people who rely on these features is the best way we improve.
